Ahead of Providence's Wednesday night rematch against Creighton, Blue Jays Assistant Coach Preston Murphy joined Chris DiSano on the College Chalktalk Podcast. As it's the final home game of the season, it figures to be an emotional one on the Friars' Senior Night.
"This is a big game for us, it's a big game for the Friars," said the Creighton assistant coach. "For all intents and purposes Dunn's a senior.
"They're going to be fired up, it's going to be an emotional night I'm sure," said the Creighton assistant coach.
As was the case when these teams met earlier this season, all eyes will be on the point guard matchup between Maurice Watson Jr. and Kris Dunn. Watson has confidence in himself going up against Dunn, while Dunn got the best of their first matchup of the season with a buzzer beater.
"At that position, it's really important that you're the team leader and you everything for your team. I believe both of those guys are selfless," said Murphy. "I mean look at Dunn, he rebounds, he defends, he's one of the nation's leaders in steals, obviously he scores, and he's one of the best assist guys in the league.
"You look at both of them, and I think they both do whatever it takes for their team to be in a position to win the basketball game at the end of the night," Murphy said.
