Rebecca Gibel with Charlie Thurston in 2014's "Barefoot in the Park"
Trinity Rep rarely takes on new members to their stellar company, but in 2013 a young actress named Rebecca Gibel, whom we'd met years earlier while she was enrolled in their acting education program, hit a Rhode Island theatrical bullseye when she was welcomed as a Trinity company regular.
We've been friends with Trinity Rep for quite a while, we are happy to say. Back in 2009, on a program we called "The Loop," we did a story on their Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs in Acting and Directing. For the piece, we interviewed a young student named Rebecca Gibel. We thought you might like to take a quick look at Becky, the student, in action.
Rebecca as a student in 2009
Flash forward seven years and Rebecca Gibel has graduated with her MFA and become a much loved regular member of the Trinity Rep Acting Company. The most recent new member added, previous to Rebecca, was back in 2006 when Joe Wilson, Jr. joined the company. However, Rebecca (along with Charlie Thurston and Mia Ellis who were also added in 2013) possessed that intangible something special the company could not let just slip away.
Now in her third year as a company regular, Rebecca has appeared in six mainstage productions (plus an additional four before she was a company member). Here are a few highlights of her work.
